Assumptions and limitations
  • Comparison of entered material and spending, not equivalent THC delivery or effects.
  • Battery curves are illustrative, not measured Sunshine lifespan.
  • 365-day years; average months are 365/12 days. Cannabis purchases follow modeled grams.
  • 68 total selected minutes includes cleaning. Approx. 54 vaping minutes is a derived budget in that charge, not pure-vaping capacity or measured energy. Timer-equivalent outputs are illustrative.
  • Runtime and energy profile do not match the current routine. Battery and electricity outputs are illustrative only.
Edit usage, prices and assumptions

Anonymous owner example. The EUR 100 historical purchase and approximate routine are a report; cannabis price, maintenance and battery behavior are illustrative assumptions.

Cannabis only, no tobacco or filler. Display changes preserve the daily rate.
At fixed grams/day, a different bowl mass changes inferred loads and timed minutes.
Unknown size leaves papers/tips unquantified, but preserves cannabis costs.
0 to 3,650 days. One model year is 365 days.
Battery, timed sessions and electricity

All aging coefficients are adjustable illustrations. The original example reports four to eight six-minute cycles on the same load. No Sunshine aging curve has been measured.

Context only; never converted to potency or wear.

Owner record: 68 total selected minutes includes cleaning. Approx. 54 vaping / 14 cleaning minutes are derived. Timer ratios do not establish equal energy across workloads.

500 is an illustrative cycle-only coefficient, not a manufacturer lifespan.
Default 0.20. Zero isolates calendar aging.

Cardboard tips

Example 15 EUR is a budget assumption, excluding batteries and electricity.

Optional purchases and dated events

Include shipping, spare accessories, repairs, device replacement or realized resale only when explicitly entered. Shared costs are split equally. Manual battery events reset cell state when automatic budgeting is off.

ABV reuse accounting

ABV strength is unknown. This is an accounting option, not advice to consume leftovers. No avoided purchase entered means zero credit. The same baseline spending is included on both sides.

Optional alternative to measured yield, for this horizon.
Leave unknown without a measurement. No strength inference.
Mass scenario endpoints

Endpoints are alternative inputs, not confidence intervals. Editing fresh mass clears the anonymous range.

Lower endpoint: €553.73. Upper endpoint: €772.73. Timed demand is held fixed for this mass-only comparison.

Default example: the rounded ledger

One 0.15 g fresh bowl and one independent 0.30 g joint each day, at EUR 12/g. The EUR 100 device purchase is a report; maintenance and aging remain assumptions. Different grams do not establish equal effects.

What this comparison can tell you

The answer depends first on the fresh material entered for each routine. Device price and supplies matter too, especially over short periods. This calculator compares those expenses on the same time horizon. It does not calculate how much cannabis someone needs, or whether two amounts deliver equal THC or effects.

The starting example uses an anonymous owner's report of a Smono Sunshine bought for EUR 100. The reported load was approximately 0.10 to 0.15 g, reused across an uncertain four to eight six-minute sessions at a displayed 180 °C. On 30 September the owner selected 0.15 g per bowl and EUR 12/g for the editable graph example. One fresh bowl/day and six six-minute cycles/bowl remain scenario assumptions. The corrected charge record totals 68 selected timer-minutes including cleaning. It has nine vaping and three cleaning blocks. Approximate 54 vaping / 14 cleaning minutes are derived reconciliation of earlier reports, not independently logged allocations. Purchase month was September 2026, exact day unknown; EUR 100 is owner-reported, not receipt-verified. Six sessions is the arithmetic midpoint of the personal four-to-eight range, which depends on preferred ABV darkness.

The comparator is independent: one 0.30 g pure-cannabis joint per day, with one RAW Black paper and one ordinary cardboard RAW tip. It contains no tobacco or other filler. This was a requested comparison, not a verified record of what the anonymous owner smoked before buying the device. Neither pattern is a recommendation.

Start with a question you can answer

If you have records, enter the fresh mass used over a stated period. A weekly total divided by seven is a daily average for accounting. It does not imply use every day. An average month means 365 divided by 12 days. The separate 30-day view means exactly 30 elapsed days. A selected calendar month uses its actual length.

Changing display periods preserves the underlying daily rate. For example, 0.30 g/day becomes 2.10 g/week or 9.125 g per average month. Rounding the displayed monthly amount must not change the quantity being calculated. A five-year projection is 1,825 model days and assumes the stated conditions continue. It is not a durability or future-price guarantee.

Use my numbers opens a separate scenario with unknown personal quantities left blank. You can enter observed vape use independently, supply an explicit material-use ratio, or compare records from two observation windows. A ratio greater than one is allowed. A calculator that forces a lower vaping quantity would decide the outcome before doing the arithmetic.

Historical ratios describe the records you supply. Changes in products, routines, missing days and reporting precision can all affect them. Record the observation window and how many days the records cover. A ratio calculated from those totals is not a chemical recovery measurement.

Keep currency attached to prices

The anonymous example remains in EUR. Custom scenarios can use EUR, USD or GBP with manually entered local prices. Changing currency opens a separate price set. It does not convert a EUR 100 purchase into a USD 100 purchase, use an exchange rate or infer a location.

You can explicitly copy non-price assumptions into that new set, then fill its prices. Each export retains its currency and price date. Prices for fresh material, electricity and maintenance are assumptions unless you replace them with your own records. The example's EUR 12/g is not a disclosed personal price or a researched market average.

Count fresh loads and timed cycles separately

A fresh bowl is a material input. A timed session is an operating interval. Six sessions on the same 0.15 g load still use 0.15 g of fresh material in this accounting. They add 36 timed minutes at six minutes each. Counting every reheat as another fresh load would multiply the material budget incorrectly.

The reported range corresponds to 24 to 48 timed minutes on that same bowl. Timed minutes are not minutes of continuous inhalation, and a session timer does not establish constant full-power heater operation. The word "finished" in a personal report does not establish complete extraction.

If you enter grams/day, the calculator divides by grams/bowl to infer an average load count. Holding grams/day fixed while changing bowl mass therefore changes the inferred operating pattern. Alternatively, measured total timed minutes can replace the session calculation. The two methods are not added together. The bowl and session guide includes an optional local log.

Why the shorter comparison can cost more

Buying a device creates an initial expense. At 30 days, the central example puts vaping at approximately EUR 155.29 and the joint comparator at EUR 109.98. Vaping costs about EUR 45.32 more over that interval. Over 365 days, the entered recurring rates produce totals of EUR 772.73 and EUR 1,338.04 respectively.

Those results answer a conditional financial question. Most of the annual difference follows directly from entering 0.15 g/day versus 0.30 g/day at the same price. It is not evidence that the device causes a particular reduction in spending or provides equal effects from less material.

The first cost crossing is about 56.42 days under the central assumptions. Repairs and replacement purchases can reverse an earlier advantage. The model therefore also reports when a scenario stays ahead through the selected horizon. That statement ends at the chosen horizon; it is not a guarantee about all future ownership.

Already-owned mode excludes the historical device purchase from forward-looking costs. It does not make the device free historically, restore an aged battery to new condition, or remove maintenance. Keep the two questions separate when comparing a new purchase with equipment you already have.

Consumed cost and shopping cash are different

At the example prices, a paper costs EUR 1.50 divided by 32 and a cardboard tip costs EUR 0.95 divided by 50. One of each contributes about EUR 0.07 per joint. At 365 joints that is EUR 24.04 worth of consumed supplies.

Starting with no stock, whole packs cost EUR 25.60: twelve paper booklets and eight tip booklets. Nineteen papers and thirty-five tips remain. They have not disappeared from the account simply because the comparison ends. The purchase view carries starting inventory and buys a pack only when unmet demand requires it.

The cannabis purchase convention is simpler: material is acquired in the modeled grams. The calculator does not pretend to know purchase dates or package sizes you did not provide. An annual maintenance allowance is still a budget allocation in the purchase view until it is replaced with itemized supplies and intervals. That mixed view must not be mistaken for an exact bank statement.

What belongs in maintenance

The EUR 15/year example allowance is an editorial budgeting assumption. It excludes electricity and batteries. Itemized maintenance replaces it rather than stacking a second cleaning budget on top. For each supply, record price, pack quantity, included starting stock, amount used and an interval based on days, bowls or timed sessions.

Choose one interval basis per row. A supply used per cleaning should not be multiplied by days, bowls and sessions at the same time. Include a brush or screen already supplied with the device as starting stock when appropriate, so it is not bought twice at day zero.

Optional shipping, spare accessories, repairs and whole-device replacement can be dated events. A shared accessory is split equally between the two comparison accounts; two separate purchases should be entered separately. Realized resale is recorded as a receipt, distinct from gross spending. No wage, health-cost reduction, productivity benefit or environmental saving is invented. See the ownership cost worksheet.

Battery assumptions need their own labels

Nominal energy, runtime, charge level and remaining capacity are different quantities. A nominal 2,550 mAh cell at 3.7 V contains 9.435 Wh by arithmetic. That number does not establish measured wall electricity, usable runtime or heater power. The exact Sunshine revision remains a source-matching question.

The example uses approximately 54 selected vaping-session minutes as a derived vaping budget within that single 68-minute mixed-use charge. The 68-minute total includes cleaning and is not extra vaping capacity. It is not established as a new-cell baseline or matched to the displayed 180 °C routine. The cycle parameter of 500 and annual calendar fade of two percentage points are editable illustrations. The capacity curve is not fitted to a Sunshine test. Its 80% threshold is a budgeting convention, not a failure diagnosis or a safety assurance.

Purpose-matched timed demand divided by the unchanged reference budget supplies a nominal-runtime-equivalent proxy. The model does not divide by shrinking aged runtime and then apply aging again. A replacement resets current-cell state, but preserves elapsed ownership, fresh mass, lifetime throughput and accumulated costs. No unused replacement is purchased at the final instant, and zero use does not trigger automatic battery purchases.

For electricity, nominal energy is multiplied by a usable fraction and divided once by conversion efficiency. A measured wall-energy value replaces that estimate entirely. A USB-side measurement still excludes adapter losses unless a conversion assumption is entered. Changed temperature or restart conditions require checking whether a runtime measurement still matches.

ABV value and avoided spending

ABV and AVB refer here to leftover already-vaped material. The accounting section begins enabled, with zero financial displacement and unknown mass yield. Enabling it alone changes no financial advantage. A saved off preference stays off when loaded.

Suppose existing separate purchases cost EUR 10 per average month. If reuse actually displaces EUR 5 and adds EUR 1 of expense, the incremental benefit is EUR 4. Both comprehensive scenarios include the original EUR 10 baseline. The vape account then subtracts the displaced EUR 5 and adds the EUR 1 expense. This preserves the counterfactual instead of subtracting an unrelated budget from only one side.

Enter when those amounts start. No credit is awarded retroactively. If a history-based reduction already includes reuse, confirm that the extra avoided amount concerns a separate purchase category. The same benefit cannot be counted once through lower fresh grams and again as an unrelated credit.

A measured material ledger is separate. Starting weighed stock plus collected material, less used and discarded stock, gives the closing balance. Fresh mass is not automatically residue mass. Without a measured yield or collection amount, inventory stays unquantified. Neither inventory nor appearance establishes strength, servings, dose or equivalence between oral and inhaled effects.

Four different questions behind "efficiency"

Material use asks how many fresh grams enter a routine. Laboratory recovery asks how much of a starting chemical quantity is recovered in a defined fraction. Systemic exposure asks what is measured in a person over a specified interval. Experienced effects describe outcomes that are not interchangeable with the other three.

This calculator makes no clinical comparison. It requires the reader to enter each material-use pattern independently. There is no measured efficiency factor built into the example. A smaller input changes spending by arithmetic; it does not show what caused that input or whether outcomes match. Empirical route comparisons remain under separate review.

The sensitivity view varies an explicitly assumed fresh-material ratio while holding the comparator fixed. A ratio of one marks equal fresh grams. Positive and negative financial differences remain visible. The matrix is a set of conditional accounts, not an efficiency curve, probability distribution or search for the most favorable result.

Keeping and correcting a result

The calculator runs locally and starts in memory. Remembering a scenario is an explicit browser-storage choice. You can delete that saved scenario, preview a JSON or CSV export, or validate a supported version on import. Your quantities are not placed in the address, an analytics event or a share preview.

An export contains personal usage and price entries. Review it before sending it anywhere. It also includes the model version, defaults date, units, source context and caveats so a later default update does not silently rewrite an older result. Malformed and unsupported schemas are rejected. Supported 1.0.0 imports preserve numeric assumptions and defaults provenance, with an explicit historical unspecified-runtime warning; the imported values are not replaced with current defaults.

Corrections should identify the article section, model version and the smallest example that demonstrates the issue. Do not send private history unless it is necessary. The corrections page explains how to contact the responsible editor.

Match the heating demand to the runtime basis

The vaping-budget mode compares vaping-session demand with a vaping-session budget. Its illustrative electricity and aging outputs do not assert measured energy equality. The example divides 36 selected vaping minutes/day by the derived 54-minute vaping budget. It does not divide that demand by 68 and claim more vaping capacity.

Total-heating mode is a different account. Enter the corresponding cleaning minutes per day explicitly, alongside a total-heating runtime under comparable conditions. A blank cleaning input keeps the charge-dependent outputs unknown. Zero means an explicit zero assumption. There is no cleaning frequency inferred from one reported charge. If a reader enters 36 vaping and 14 cleaning minutes/day with a 68-minute total-heating reference, the timer proxy is 50/68. That is a hypothetical accounting example, not the owner's routine or a measured electrical ratio.

Selected timers, elapsed time, completed cycles and inhalation time differ. Changing workloads or settings can change their relationship to energy. A measured wall-energy observation must match the pattern being modeled before being interpreted as actual spending. The displayed curve remains an illustration when those conditions are unknown.
