Session versus on-demand: what changes?

Compare documented timer behavior, fresh-load counters and control questions without assuming a mode guarantees savings.

The name describes a control idea

In a session mode, a device operates through a selected timed interval. In an on-demand mode, heating is requested through the model's specified control. The exact start, stop and timeout behavior needs the matching manual. Neither label by itself tells you the amount extracted, the dose delivered or the money saved.

The Sunshine reference manual and XMAX V3 Pro manual provide specific examples. Kinetexa has not handled the V3 Pro, and the owner's exact Sunshine revision remains unresolved. Read the table as a document comparison rather than an instruction for every device bearing those names.

Reference documentSession timer describedOn-demand interval describedEvidence limit
Sunshine, English printed pages 9–16Four or six minutesThirty secondsExact owned-unit match unknown; conflicting power-click counts remain unresolved
XMAX V3 Pro, specification panel page 4Four or six minutesThirty secondsUnowned; matching timer labels do not establish matching hardware or performance

These are selected timer specifications, not measured continuous runtime. The mode-specific operation passages matter as well as the specification panel.

What would I compare?

I would start with four questions: what starts the heater, what ends the interval, what happens if the control is released, and what the timer actually counts. Then I would ask whether that sequence fits the ordinary routine I want to manage.

For a comparison record, keep fresh loads, heat-up events, timed intervals and interruptions in separate fields. Changing the mode and the amount of fresh material at the same time cannot isolate a mode effect. A comparison also needs the same stated conditions and a clearly defined outcome.

One bowl can have several intervals

Imagine one recorded fresh load followed by several heating intervals. The fresh-material ledger contains one load. The operation log contains several intervals. Those are different counters, even if a screen calls an interval a “session.” The example establishes a recording distinction, not a recommended number of reheats.

The anonymous Sunshine record reports 68 selected timer minutes across nine vaping and three cleaning blocks on one charge. It does not identify nine fresh bowls or nine intervals per bowl. Cleaning belongs in its own purpose field. See the owner-note page for the exact limits.

A mode cannot promise savings on its own

Financial savings require entered prices, fresh quantities, supplies and ownership expenses. Measured energy use needs an appropriate electrical measurement. Extraction and personal effects need different evidence again. Do not turn “on-demand” into an automatic efficiency multiplier in a cost calculation.

The cost calculator compares your independent inputs. The bowl/session log helps name the quantities. Neither provides a dose conversion.

Match the actual instructions

If a manual disagrees with a label, revision or another passage, keep the conflict visible and ask the manufacturer to clarify it. The Sunshine reference's power-button discrepancy is not resolved here by choosing a familiar count. A charging rating likewise cannot prove battery bypass or permission to operate while connected.

For those questions, continue with exact-device operation checks. A source-based explanation can be useful while a specific unit remains unmatched.

Sources and evidence status

Source checks, editorial review and publication are separate states. A link alone does not establish that a claim was reviewed.

A listing is not independent testing; exact revision, future stock and shipping need confirmation. Applicable claim review remains separate.
  2. Anonymous owner's 30 September update · Anonymous owner. Published 2026-09-30. Checked 2026-09-30. Direct owner message: only Sunshine owned; one corrected 68-selected-minute mixed-use charge, nine vaping / three cleaning blocks; approximate 54 / 14 purpose subtotals derived; EUR 12/g and 0.15 g/bowl example. Conditions, cell age, repetitions and exact revision are unknown. Not nine cycles/bowl or measured aging.
  3. XMAX V3 Pro reference manual · XMAX, reseller-hosted at VPM. Checked 2026-09-30. Specification panel page 4; modes, timer and electrical specifications. Unowned device. Exact retailer variant match and independent performance are unverified.
